Long Day
Really long one today. I took my IB-TOK class to see "Anna In The Tropics" at the Seattle Rep. Afterwards, Sharon Ott (the artistic director) held a seminar with my students on the connection between Art, the Artist, and the Audience. The entire cast (I want to highlight the fact that I am not kidding -- the whole cast) stayed and my students got the benefit of hearing the actors discuss their roles as artists.
It was a real treat for me to listen to everyone in the rotunda grapple with the TOK-type discussion. A favorite moment early on was when I asked the opening question to get us started. Sharon laughed and said something about the fact that I should remember to start with the easy questions. All of the actors laughed, but my students only chuckled as they awaited my reply: "Um, that was the softball question."
We brought in pizza from Pagliacci, and made an afternoon of it. It was a great day!
